Position Summary

MDVIP is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of financial work. This role supports the integrity of our financial reporting by performing key month-end close activities, preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements. The Staff Accountant will also help strengthen internal controls and collaborate across departments to resolve financial inquiries and improve processes. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and perform accurate, timely bank reconciliations while investigating and resolving variances.
• Prepare, post, and review journal entries, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and support month-end and quarter-end close processes to uphold the accuracy of financial reporting.
• Oversee fixed assets, including tracking additions/disposals, managing depreciation schedules, and completing monthly reconciliations.
• Assist with audits by preparing schedules and resolving inquiries while identifying opportunities to improve accounting procedures and enhance internal controls.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Two years of related business experience in accounting, with a strong foundation in financial reporting and general ledger reconciliations.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in applying GAAP principles to ensure accurate and timely financial outputs. – this needs to be moved to competencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in public accounting or working at a public company with SEC reporting knowledge.
• Proven ability to establish, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls in a corporate environment. – key competencies
• Experience supporting external or internal audits, including preparing schedules, resolving inquiries, and providing necessary documentation.
