Responsibilities

 As Assistant Controller, you will:

  • Lead and mentor an accounting team of five, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including preparation and analysis of financial statements and supporting reports.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to assist with financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Oversee audit preparation, treasury functions, and ensure adherence to financial policies and internal controls.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis (50%)

  • Prepare reports summarizing business activities and financial position for all entities (individual and consolidated).
  • Review and improve processes to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of monthly results to ensure records reflect accurate performance metrics.

Team Leadership (10%)

  • Hire, train, and mentor team members, providing feedback to support career development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Audit & Compliance (5%)

  • Prepare supporting schedules for annual audits and partner with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations.

Trend Analysis & Forecasting (5%)

  • Collaborate with leadership to track KPIs, conduct trend analysis, and assist in forecasting.

Vendor & Commission Oversight (15%)

  • Oversee annual 1099 preparation for 1,500+ vendors.
  • Review and calculate commissions for various sales teams.
  • Approve financial disbursements via Coupa and ensure adherence to policies.

Process & Policy Management (10%)

  • Implement, document, and maintain effective internal controls.
  • Recommend and drive updates to corporate programs and processes.

  • Timely and accurate preparation of financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and effective communication with leadership and other departments.
  • Successful mentoring and development of team members, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Knowledge:

Bachelor's degree in accounting from four-year College or university and at least eight (8) year’s related business experience; related experience assumes a similar corporate role with progressive record of career growth.

 

  • Master’s Degree and CPA is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience in Public Accounting is strongly preferred but not required. 

Computer Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and MAS 500 or similar ERP system   
  • Able to learn new software easily. 

Corporate based roles:  As a corporate based role in Boca Raton, FL, employees are expected to work from the corporate office.  At no time may work be performed, or computer systems accessed, from outside of the U.S.
